MAGNIFICENT 11 + 1 VALENTINES WEEKEND 2009

The trip from Zanesville to Lanoka Harbor was uneventful and all the kids were ready for some heavy drinking and a little food.

It takes more than one person to make this happen. First, there is Bob Bornstein and the puppymillrescue fund that sends a volunteer to the auctions in the midwest to bid on the goldens listed in the various auction catalogs. The auction bidder, LaVerne, who stayed in touch with us and bid on the little Schnauzer pup for Dee Hess, Delaware Puppy Rescue - . Then there was Wendy who in her pickup truck loaded with crates picking them up at the auction on February 7th. Her Mom, Jane Waller, and Staff at the Marshall Veterinary Clinic who cared for them all week. Susan for riding shot gun from Missouri to Zanesville Ohio. Karen who stays in touch with the motel, van rental, begging Premier to have leashes and collars for us to travel with, creating lists of what not to leave at home !! the EconoLodge in Zanesville for allowing us to stay in their very clean rooms. Enterprise for renting us vans, with Kristine makes all arrangements. And then there was the welcoming committee, Carol, Pat, new recruit Bob Nunnery, Brenda and Cody, Kristine and her camera (so we all would have pictures), Jeanne, Joanne and Dave who made life so easy by helping to unload the van. Thank goodness for his strength. I'm not finished, because you have to understand about a small groups dedication. Monday morning, around 7am the first volunteer to arrive, Carol followed by Cathi and JJ - all 12 to be taken out for potty, and breakfast "in shifts" and it was cold outside. Kristine for returning to get me and the van back to Enterprise. Uta was next to arrive to greet the travelers who were very comfortable in the heated garage and enough crates for them to spread out. Door rings, it's Geoff with Sam and Bandit and donuts. Sam had that wow is me look on his face and really wanted to stay in the car. There was paula and Lexie who came to visit. Next up was Bev and Jeanne or was it Jeanne and Bev ?? Bob Nunnerey, new volunteer. Dee Hess (DELPUPRESQ). Dr Laura and Stacey arrived for vetting the goldens - you know, eyes, ears, weight, etc, etc. - It was time for those auction numbers to be taken off these babies and for their SHGRR tags to be put on, one by one as Laura worked on them. It was very late in the afternoon when Laura finished. Then it was time to divide the troops up. There was meds to be given out by weight, so time consuming. Dee left with her Schnauzer pup - a cute little thing. Foster parents patiently waiting. Jeanne was first up with Jolly, the oldest of the goldens at age 5. Then Bob with his Adrienne. Bev was brave took 2 home, Ridges one of the 2 males and Colleen a pretty little girl (all were pretty). Pat arrives for her Maggie Mae who was in heat !!!!!!!!!!! Carol called Kathi and reminded her she had better be on the road to pick up her Alli (which she did). Then Joanne who had patiently waited at home till some of the craziness wore off arrived for her 2 babies (un named for now) ages 14 wks and 6 months. So that left 3 babies in my garage - 2 girls and 1 boy. Not bad for a days work. Carol and I got them out for potty, some dinner and off to sleep for them. Carol left to feed her kidz, Greg called to see how I was, Andrea called to make plans to pick up her girl today, and I fed my kidz and put my kitchen and DR back in order. It was 9:30 when I called Karen to say goodnight.

Thank you all. These kidz thank you from the bottom of their hearts which seemed to melt yesterday as the day progressed. Especially do I want to thank my kidz for once again allowing me to turn their little lives upside down and bringing in yet more goldens. And I need to thank Murphy (Carol) for not being upset because he ate so late. If I forgot you, please do not be offended.
